- Meet at least once a month with assigned mentee
- Give something back to supply management professionals
- Assist mentees in the progression of a career path
- Contribute to the development of fellow supply management professionals
- Share their expertise within the affiliate
- Improve the mentee’s leadership and knowledge skill sets
- Encourage the mentee to think in new and creative ways
- Take initiative in the mentoring process to ensure a successful experience
- Maintain confidentiality of all issues discussed between mentor and mentee
Mentees
- Meet at least once a month with assigned mentor
- Learn from an experienced supply management professional
- Identify long-term professional development needs and an action plan
- Realize the value of networking
- Develop a meaningful professional relationship over a specified period of time
- See the value in receiving feedback and guidance from the mentor
- Observe how a mentor approaches tasks and solves problems
- Take initiative in the mentoring process to ensure a successful experience
- Maintain confidentiality of all issues between mentor and mentee
Mentoring Committee
- Serve as a primary point of contact for both mentors and mentees
- Coordinate the assignment process
- Identify on a continuous basis potential candidates for participation in the program
- Support the Mentoring Program by allowing the mentor and mentee to experience new opportunities in a supportive environment
- Monitor the mentor/mentee assignments to ensure a positive experience for all involved
- Execute the termination of a mentor/mentee relationship when necessary
- Maintain confidentiality of all issues between mentor and mentee
